UVSC October Police Beat

October 3rd- FIGHT-Two 21 year old females were issued citations after getting into a fight while watching a game behind the Education BUilding. Kristina Kopsel of Provo was charged with Assault and Kari Weiss of Provo was charged with Disorderly Conduct. Both are scheduled for a initial court appearance on November 5th, 2007.

October 3rd- MEDICAL- A 34 year old female collapsed in the Liberal Arts building. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

October 5th- GAS LEAK- UVSC and Orem Emergency Personnel responded to the MATC on a report of a gas leak. Upon their arrival, it was discovered that two gas burners had been turned on in the kitchen and the pilot lights blown out. The building was evacuated and locked down until the initial investigation could be completed.

October 8th- TRAFFIC ACCIDENT- A vehicle backed into a motorcyclist in parking lot E. The driver of the motorcycle suffered minor injuries.

October 8th- AGENCY ASSIST- A UVSC Officer responded to 273 S 800 W to back an Orem Officer on a trespass in progress.

October 9th- TRAFFIC ACCIDENT- Two vehicle backed into each other in parking lot H.

October 10th- MEDICAL- A 13 year old male fell and broke his arm while rollerblading down 800 S. The victim was transported by Ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation

October 11th- AGENCY ASSIST- UVSC Police responded to Hampton Inn to assist Orem Police with a suicidal female. The intoxicated woman was taken into protective custody and transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

October 14th- FALSE INFO- A 17 year old male was charged with False Information to a Police Officer after asking the Officer for a ride. The juvenile provided the Officer with a name that turned out to have a warrant. When the Officer advised the juvenile he had a warrant for his arrest, the juvenile stated that he gave him a false name. Further investigation determined the juvenile lied because he was suppose to be on House Arrest and was violating his probation by being out.

October 18th- SEARCH WARRANT- UVSC Police served a search warrant on a residence in Orem after a MacBook Pro laptop valued at $2300 was stolen from the Bookstore the day before. The laptop was recovered early on the morning of the 19th along with the suspect being arrested. A 18 year old male was booked into the Utah County Jail and charged with Felony Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

October 20th- AGENCY ASSIST-UVSC Police responded to a traffic accident at 1430 S Sandhill.

October 21st- AGENCY ASSIST-Sgt. Sprague responded to WalMart to assist Orem Police on a report of a sex offense that had just ocured. A 35 year old male was arrested for exposing himself to a young female.

October 22nd- POSSESSION MARIJUANA- A 18 year old female was issued a citation for possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.

October 22nd- MEDICAL- A 42 year old woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after she began to feel sick on campus.

October 23rd- AGENCY ASSIST-UVSC Police responded to a traffic accident at University Parkway and Geneva Road.

October 24th- ILLEGAL CONSUMPTION-Officer Arledge was on routine patrol when he was approached and advised of possible illegal activity in the Winter Haven underground parking. Officer Arledge and several Orem Officers responded to the area and arrested 3 male suspects for illegal consumption.

October 25th- AGENCY ASSIST- K9 Officer Smith and Sgt. Sprague responded to a local business that had received a bomb threat. The Officers assisted in the planing and implementation of the search of the facility.
